Dear Japanese Language School Guardians,

The purpose of this letter is to supplement previous correspondences from the JLS.

Once again, thank you very much for your ongoing understanding and support for the Japanese Language School of Greater Boston (JLS) in these turbulent times.

Today, there was a direct request from the Superintendent of the Medford Public Schools. We were asked to self-isolate in our homes following travel to an area with widespread or ongoing community spread instances of the virus for 14 days.

The school’s administration is working with the Board of Directors and the PTA to make every effort to ensure the safety of children. Ensuring security is not only for our school but also for the safety of Medford High School students and their stakeholders.

Your child must not come to school solely by your own judgment. If any cases arise from our school, the trust relationship we have built with Medford High School along with all the efforts everyone is giving now will be wasted. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Guidelines Regarding COVID-19

The superintendent of the Medford Public Schools strongly suggested observing the state, federal and CDC guidelines. At this time please be sure to follow these steps:

If a family member or a person living together returns from a country (including Japan) included in Travel Risk Levels 2 and 3 (including Washington State)

・ Two weeks will be the observation period just before commuting to school. The following two conditions are required to resume school.

① In order to come to school on March 7 (tomorrow), → You must have returned to the United States before February 22.

② No family has shown any symptoms for more than two weeks.

・ If a family member or a person becomes ill, contact the school immediately.
