Greetings,

As of April 21, the State of Massachusetts has declared that all schools be closed for the rest of the school year.  As a result, we have made the decision to also close access to the Medford campus for the first semester and further transition the remainder of the School towards some form of distance learning by May 9.

The Japanese Language School will be taking the following approaches to our distance-learning efforts :

1 Distance Learning (Providing learning materials for the student to work on at home)

2 Online Contact (Mostly short online meetings to see how the students are doing)

3 Online Classes (One teacher holding online classes with multiple students)

Depending on the grade level, the School plans to transition to one or more of the above

approaches as of May 9.

Some of the grade levels have already started.  Some will be coming on board shortly.  The duration of time spent online may vary from class to class.  Some will have monolithic classes.  Some may Split up into smaller groups.  Please understand that each teacher is taking into consideration

what he/she considers the best learning environment for the class.  As a School. we are trying to offer the best educational opportunities that we can in these turbulent times.

Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

School Principal

Tadahiko Sugiyama
