The Japanese Language School of Greater Boston is a non-profit organization, and is run by a Steering Committee made up of parent volunteers. The main resource for activities at the school is the parents themselves, and the PTA has the responsibility to enrich our children's educational environment.

All parents of elementary students and above participate in the on duty system, which means volunteering in one of the following areas: the safety patrol, the coffee/bake sale, and the library; the Kindergarten parents help in classes. Parents take their turn a few times a year per child. The details of the duties are given by members of each committee (or by the teacher, in case of Kindergarten helpers.)
